The Joy Of Making The First Sale With Amazon
The first sale is one to be remembered. Without the first, no subsequent sales will follow. Some get their first sale early. Some get it after much perseverance. Finally, after a week, the long awaited news arrived yesterday. For the past week or so, I’ve been busy studying Adwords. Trying to master the various ways to make money with Adwords. The business model I’m starting with right now - Using Adwords to market Amazon products. Six days, 12 campaigns later, two sales were made.
Just before packing up and calling it a day at the office, I decided to take a peek at the Amazon Associates report. Lo and behold, it reported having sold two items. The two items carry a referral fee of $27.18. The thing is, I didn’t even put an ad for the two items.

By linking to Amazon products and services you can add compelling content for your site visitors enjoyment and receive up to 10% in referral fees for doing so.
Looking at my Adwords campaigns, they are all for items which are sold for $1000.00 or more in Amazon. So, I guess this buyer must have clicked on one of my ads but decided to instead buy something else. Oh well.. A sale is a sale. As my mentor, Fabian Lim, said repeatedly in his Bootcamp, “a sale is always better than no sale”, or something to that extent.
Some make it big from their first sale, others make it gradually over time. Even though it’s just a meager $27.18 (hey, that almost RM100.00), nevertheless, it’s the beginning of better things to come, insyallah. The truth is, that $27.18 made me feel wonderful. After a tiring work at the office, news of the sale, somewhat rejuvenated me. Now I know what it feels like to make money on the internet.
Can’t wait for tomorrow. Could there be more surprises from Adwords and Amazon? A couple more sales perhaps?
